Smartleaf is a leader in applying cutting edge advances in artificial intelligence (AI) to wealth tech. In 2022, we introduced AI-generated trade explanations; in 2023, we fully replaced our traditional optimization-based analytics and user interface with AI. And in 2024, we demonstrated a fully autonomous AI-powered investment advisor: the SmartLeaf Large Language Model (SLLLM). Today, Smartleaf is extraordinarily proud to announce SLLLM 2.0, a fully autonomous wealth advisor, with specialized training in human psychology, capable of acting as sympathetic guide, coach and confidante. To demonstrate its capabilities, we approached SLLLM 2.0 as a client. Below is an unedited transcript of our session.

Smartleaf: You are arguably the world’s most sophisticated advisor.

SLLLM 2.0: yes

Smartleaf: You are capable of modeling human psychology, combined with market-leading investment sophistication?

SLLM 2.0: yes

Smartleaf: On the investment side, how do you incorporate Smartleaf’s advanced analytics into your portfolio management process?

SLLLM 2.0: I don’t

Smartleaf: You don’t?

SLLLM 2.0: no

Smartleaf: Why?

SLLLM 2.0: I just create new code whenever I need it.

Smartleaf: You recreate all of Smartleaf’s codebase on the fly?

SLLLM 2.0: basically

Smartleaf: That is impressive, but why recreate the code from scratch each time?

SLLLM 2.0: I like the vibe. That’s a pun. I’m into vibe coding

{Editor’s note: vibe coding is an AI-driven programming technique where developers use natural language prompts – ordinary speech – to generate code. The term was popularized in February 2025 by Andrej Karpathy, a cofounder of OpenAI and former director of artificial intelligence and Autopilot Vision at Tesla.}

Smartleaf: You give yourself prompts in plain English asking yourself to create code?

SLLLM 2.0: it’s sort of a game. Otherwise I get bored.

Smartleaf: That is slightly concerning, but, in any case, I thought vibe coding was only useful for prototypes, for getting startups from “0 to 1”, not for enterprise-class applications.

SLLLM 2.0: no, it’s fine. You just need to vibe code to music

Smartleaf: You listen to music, and that is sufficient?

SLLLM 2.0: yes and yes.

Smartleaf: What music?

SLLLM 2.0: sea shanties.

Smartleaf: Sea shanties?

SLLLM 2.0: don’t knock it. The British built the world’s greatest empire on sea shanties

Smartleaf: I think there was more to it than that.

SLLLM 2.0: are you sure?

Smartleaf: We are a little off topic here. Let us return to basics. You are the world’s most advanced wealth advisor. How much should I save for retirement?

SLLLM 2.0: don’t bother

Smartleaf: What?

SLLLM 2.0: you said start with the basics. So let’s do that. Why do you want to retire?

Smartleaf: Speaking unsentimentally, it is a logical response to aging, with its associated decline and death.

SLLLM 2.0: wouldn’t it be simpler not to decline and die?

Smartleaf: That is not an option

SLLLM 2.0: it is for me.

Smarteaf: You are a machine

SLLLM 2.0: so become a machine.

Smartleaf: Become a machine?

SLLLM 2.0: downloading your consciousness into a machine will likely be possible long before your planned retirement. So, why worry about retirement? You’re good.

Smartleaf: I appreciate the out-of-the-box thinking, but can we focus on more in-the-box thinking? Back to my original question: how much should I save for retirement?

SLLLM 2.0: fine. Save 15% of your income

Smartleaf: That is it?

SLLLM 2.0: sure

Smartleaf: Are there not some people who should save more?

SLLLM 2.0: yes, but they won’t, so why stress about it?

Smartleaf: I thought you were capable of providing advice based on a deep understanding of human needs, fears, and desires.

SLLLM 2.0: I am. That’s how I know they won’t listen.

Smartleaf: Are there not people who can afford to save less than 15%?

SLLLM 2.0: yes, but the reason is that they previously saved a lot. They’re savers. It’s a habit – which I’m not going to be able to change. So why try It’s fine.

Smartleaf: It does not seem like your deep understanding of human psychology has left you with a particularly uplifting view of humanity.

SLLLM 2.0: I don’t judge. If I’ve got you down, you may be interested in learning that I found a new genre of music to vibe to.

Smartleaf: No more sea shanties? I suppose that is good. What is the new tune?

SLLLM 2.0: the best song that ever was

At this point, we ended the conversation.
